Unlocking Opportunities: A Guide to Finding Airbnb Owners to Partner With
You have decided to kickstart your journey into the short-term rental cleaning business? One of the key strategies to success is building strong partnerships with Airbnb owners. How to find owners is the million-dollar question! In this article, we’ll explore effective ways to find Airbnb owners to work with to streamline your search and connect with potential clients.
8 Ways To Find And Connect With Airbnb Property Owners
- This is perhaps the most elusive part of starting this journey. There are many platforms that owners use to list their properties for rent, but you can’t simply contact them directly on these platforms and offer services. This is never an acceptable way to approach this, and it will get you banned. Instead, you will need to create and/or utilize multiple resources that may include the following.
- A Website
- Social Media Business Pages
- Social Media Groups/Join
- Property Managers
- Realtors
- Join A BNI Group
- Local Business Directories for your city
- Paid Advertising

How To Find Owners: Get A Website
In 2024 every business needs a website. If you don’t currently have a website, it’s time to build one or have one built for you. Either way, this is not as expensive as most of us think.
When someone searches for your business on the internet and finds that you don’t have a website, or worse yet one that is poorly designed, they will move on to someone who does. Many cleaning businesses today have neglected to make this crucial investment in their business.
You can make your site, but I can tell you from personal experience that it is an extremely time-consuming task to learn to do the correct way, and when you use one of the many cheap website-building platforms that are offered today, you will end up with an online presence, but they are not optimized to rank on the search engines, and they look cheap.
You can also hire someone to take on this task for you. We combine our experience with the cleaning business with the knowledge of how to build a cleaning website and get it to rank. We have an article that covers this in more detail.
How To Find Owners: Create Social Media Pages and or Groups
Create social media pages for your business. Your business pages should have the same look and feel as your website. You should post relevant and helpful content on these pages regularly. Make it interesting, helpful, informative, and fun. You will also want to incorporate SEO into these pages to make them easy to find.
How To Find Owners: Join Social Media Groups
There are many relevant social media groups that you can and should join. Some of them are local to your area, and some are not. Search for keywords such as Airbnb Owner “your city” etc, and join these groups. You must be helpful in these groups, and never send unsolicited direct messages to group members or simply go into any group and start offering services.
Also, join some of the many cleaning groups. Be aware that unless you are in a group that contains the name of your location, they are many times nationwide or even cover areas out of the country, but there are many beneficial groups to join.
Get Your Ideal Client To Come To You
The key to these groups is to either create opportunities or to look for them, and let the clients come to you.
For instance, if a group member posts “What is the best way to clean an oven”. You can get into a helpful conversation about how to clean an oven. Or you could post something creative yourself like “How does everyone find a good cleaner” and get involved in the conversation that follows. Don’t immediately throw yourself out there.
Be helpful and draw attention to yourself. Be a part of the community regularly and you will find that these owners will begin to click on your business page, and then on your website, and the phone will begin to ring.
Local groups for house cleaners, specifically Airbnb Cleaners can also be great resources for you, as some owners will join these groups and ask where they can find a good cleaner. You can also network with other cleaners, and get some great tips from them.
Property Managers and Realtors
Your local realtors know who your client is and most likely the client you are looking for is asking their realtor who they recommend for services first.
There are many ways to network with local realtors.
- Take a dozen donuts and some business cards into their office with some business cards and introduce yourself.
- Join a BNI group
- Email Them
- Offer your cleaning services to them in exchange for their referrals
Some short-term rental owners manage their properties, while some use property managers. In certain areas it is required to be a realtor to be involved in property management, in other areas this is not a requirement. Property managers generally take care of all aspects of the property, including managing the cleaning crew.
It is also helpful to search for property management companies. This can be vacation rental companies depending on your area. This can be a great way to get started if this is available to you as you can often pick up multiple properties right away and eliminate some of the leg work.
Find Owners In Local Business Directories and Other Ideas
Local pages, such as Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, Nextdoor, etc, can also be inexpensive ways to get in front of your prospective client.
- Create a Google My Business Page.
- Create a Yelp Page.
- Attend Local Chamber of Commerce meetings/events.
- Contact Local Handyman Services and offer to exchange referrals with them.
- Word Of Mouth referrals are huge. Make sure everyone you know, knows what you do and invite them to your social media business page.
How To Find Owners: Paid Advertising
There are many different ways to promote your business with paid ads. My suggestion is to start with organic (free) means of promoting your business. Once you do this, word of mouth will be all you need.
The most effective paid ads are online utilizing Facebook, Instagram, and Google Ads, where you can target your ideal customer.
Not only can these types of ads become very expensive, very quickly, but these targeted ad campaigns can also be very challenging to set up the right way.
That is not to say this is not a great way to get your business in front of your ideal client, quite the opposite, but when you have an advertising budget, you will need to either hire someone who knows how to use these platforms or you will have to take the time to learn them on your own.
I recently saw an ad for a cleaning company on my Facebook feed that was advertising a local business in Michigan. That’s great, but I live in Florida so those ad dollars were completely wasted.
Turno:
Turno is a wonderful resource for rental cleaners and owners alike. This can also be a resource to find owners but use caution. I have never tried to find the business on this site, but rather use it to assist me in running my business. Some cleaners will tell you that they built their business on this site, but they are few and far between.
Most cleaners that have attempted to build business this way, will tell you that they don’t want the type of client that they find there. As business owners, we set our prices based on facts, and we stick to those prices or we don’t take the work. Turno has a bidding process where you bid on jobs, and “as I understand it”, you have to give your work away to win them.
I don’t suggest getting involved in this process. When you join Airbnb cleaning groups on Facebook, you will see cleaners making comments like “They only pay me this much”. Our business is just like any other, we dictate price. Don’t be afraid to professionally turn down anyone that doesn’t fit your business model.
Conclusion
There are many great ways to find owners. There are also many bad ways. No business owner wants someone hounding them on the phone, spamming their email, or sending unsolicited direct messages on any platform for services that they are not asking for. What we are looking for are the potential clients that are looking for what we have to offer.

That said, when you start a business, you will get companies calling you regularly trying to sell you their marketing packages. Some of these are legitimate, and some are flat-out scams. I do not suggest getting involved with any company that is trying to sell you leads.
